Google doubles down on ‘AI phones’ with its Pixel 10 series

Google is aiming to outpace Apple with the Pixel 10 series, delivering AI-powered smartphones weeks before the anticipated iPhone 17. These devices build on the Pixel 9’s AI capabilities, including Gemini Live, call notes, and image-generation tools.

Gemini Live conversations are reportedly five times longer than text chats. Pixel 10 adds Visual Overlays, Magic Cue, Camera Coach, Voice Translate, Take a Message, and Pixel Journal. The Tensor G5 chip and Gemini Nano power these features.

Visual Overlays lets AI provide guidance through the camera lens, and Magic Cue offers contextual suggestions across apps. Camera Coach improves photography, Auto Best Take selects the best image, and Ask Photos edits shots with AI.

Voice Translate handles real-time calls in multiple languages. Take a Message transcribes voicemails and recommends next steps. Pixel Journal tracks progress, offers prompts, and insights.

Minor updates include Gboard writing tools, Pixel Studio screenshot upgrades, and Notebook LM integration for enhanced productivity.
