Google’s new AI feature lets you virtually try on clothes

Google is taking a major step into the world of AI-assisted fashion shopping with the official launch of its personalized virtual try-on tool. Starting Thursday, shoppers in the United States can digitally try on clothes by uploading a full-body image to see how garments would look on them.

The tool, available in Search, Shopping, and Google Images, enables users to preview outfits on their own body rather than on a model. After selecting a product listing, users can activate the “try it on” feature and get instant results generated by Google’s AI engine.

This move expands Google’s broader vision of integrating generative AI into e-commerce. While previous versions of try-on tech featured preset models, the new update prioritizes individual personalization. The company is also preparing to unveil a tool later this year to inspire outfit and room designs.

Google’s experimental Doppl app complements the effort, giving users even more ways to engage with fashion through personalized video previews. Together with updated price alerts, Google aims to make shopping more intuitive and tailored.
