Jack Dorsey’s Bluetooth messaging app Bitchat now on App Store
Jack Dorsey’s new messaging app, Bitchat, has debuted on the iOS App Store. Dorsey says the app’s base code was developed over one weekend in July, marking a swift development process.
Bitchat operates via Bluetooth mesh networks, allowing local messaging without internet or mobile connectivity, up to about 100 meters. This can be valuable for travelers, event-goers, or people in areas with poor coverage.
Its interface is barebones — no sign-up is required, and users immediately see a chat feed where they can participate and adjust their display names freely. This simplicity may appeal to users seeking lightweight communication tools.
Dorsey has not officially commented on fake listings on Google Play, but he reposted a user’s alert noting that the Android version is not yet available.
