Threads Tests Feature to Share Longer Texts in Single Posts
Meta confirmed to TechCrunch that Threads is testing a new text attachment feature, designed to allow users to share long-form content without creating multiple posts. The update simplifies sharing of in-depth thoughts and ideas.
iOS researcher Radu Oncescu first spotted the feature, which lets users add longer text and style it creatively to include news snippets, book excerpts, or personal reflections. Posts appear in a gray box that readers can click to view the full content, as demonstrated by Robert P. Nickson.
This long-form capability could attract creators who want broader distribution beyond blogs or newsletter platforms like Substack. Unlike X, which restricts its Articles feature to Premium users, Threads makes the feature accessible to all, at least for now.
Currently, the feature supports only text, but Meta may eventually allow multimedia attachments. The addition follows recent updates including DMs, AI enhancements, custom feeds, and fediverse integrations, contributing to Threads’ growth to 400 million monthly active users, compared to X’s 600 million.
